It's important to know how many people you're feeding and how big you want the pieces to be. As a standard, party servings are 2" x 2", while wedding servings are 1" x 2". But there's a third dimension, height. Your traditional wedding cakes, have 3 layers of cake, which does increase the cost. When placing your order, I will need to know if you're planning for a party or a wedding.
Single tier party cakes - two layers of cake with a layer of filling between them.
Single tier wedding cakes - three layers of cake with a layer of filling between them.
Tiered wedding cakes - multiple single tier cakes stacked up. They can all be the same cake/filling combination or could be different.
Sculpted cakes - depend on the design. They're usually all one cake/filling combination with at least two layers of cake and a filling between them. Taller designs will have multiple layers. Price is based on the starting sizes of the layers before the sculpting process begins.
The cutting guide above, shows how cake of various sizes should be cut in order to get the right amount of servings.
I use this to determine what size cake is best for your project.
